WTF Welcome our newest member to the litter, Mortlach

It's better to experience by car.

So you can REALLY enjoy the vast expanses of corn, terrible driving, and no decent coffee.

indiana is the worst. Vast expanses of shitty nothingness. Not even corn, just poverty and ugly.

I do however like Kansas City

really? that is awesome, if you don't mind I will run some menus by you... what did you serve at the last one?

Tha last one I organised was this

Auchentoshan Valinch / 2011 Release 57.5% Lowland Single Malt
A fan pressure inspired bottling from Auchentoshan, taking their best selling Classic and then bottling at cask strength. The Valinch of the name is the 'proper' name for the tube used to extract whisky from the barrel for tasting, although you may have heard its alternative title - The Whisky Thief.

Caol Ila 12 Year Old / Unpeated / Bot.2011 64% Islay Single Malt

Distilled in 1999, the 2011 release of the unpeated Caol Ila 12yo is an absolute belter - and amazingly easy to drink, even at its slightly scary full strength of 64%. Bottled from first fill ex-bourbon American oak casks, this was one of our favourites in the 2011 Special Releases.

Edradour 1998 / 12 Year Old / Sassicaia Finish 55.6% Highland Single Malt
A single cask 1998 Edradour that has had nearly four years secondary maturation in a cask that formerly held Italy's famed Super-Tuscan Sassicaia red wine.

Scapa 16 Year Old 40% Island Single Malt
The initially controversial 16yo official expression of Scapa is now winning people round with a jump in quality after a few wobbly years following the rapid transition from the much-loved 12yo via the short-lived 14yo. Orkney's less shouted about (but still lovely in its own way) malt whisky has found its feet.

Springbank 10 Year Old 46% Campbeltown Single Malt
Blended from a mixture of Bourbon and sherry casks, the light colour of this malt belies the richness of its character. Picked up the top prize in its category at the World Whisky Awards 2010.

Cu Dhub / Black Whisky 40% Speyside Single Malt
A black whisky, produced to replace the infamous but much loved Loch Dhu and now developing a bit of a following. Cu Dhub means Black Dog in Gaelic.

Have you seen the movie Angel's Share? I think you'd appreciate it as a whiskey-er

how was thas the Auch, Caol Ila and Eradour?

our last one was:

Girvan 20 year Clan denny (think sweet with tons of tons of spice)

Strathmill 22 year from our good friends at Bladnoch

Arran's new release "The Devil's Punchbowl"

Bunnahabhain 23 year also from Bladnoch

Bowmore 25 year from Signatory's Cask Strength Series

And the CI2 from the Elements of Islay series a Caol Isla

The surprise with the Auchentoshan was what we agreed was caramelised bananas. Not something I had predicted.

The Caol ila was extraordinary with all sorts of spices, ginger and more sweetness than expected from an Islay.

The Edradour was one of only 451 bottles and didn't disappoint with a syrupy, fruity finish with hints of toffee.

I generally try to cover a wide range with 'introductory' tastings. Only when advertised do I stick to one region.
