If my religious beliefs were a car, I can't find reverse

In February, My wife and I, who are Roman Catholic, will be baptizing our baby.

This is a picture of inside my church of an adult being baptized:

That better not be Atlanta, cause they are wasting water. wtf

Catholics don't baptize or dedicate children, they christen them .. it's a totally different act than what other religions perform. To my knowledge, Catholics don't baptize adults either.
I take it you aren't Catholic nor do you know any because both of those thoughts are wrong. I was born, baptized, raised, confirmed and married Catholic.

We have 7 sacraments... starting with Baptism and ending with Annointing of the sick. If you are an adult who wants to be baptized in the Church, they will immerse.

Jesus was about as immersed as what you see in the pic (that's actually a "tub" of water the guy is kneeling in). At least that's what I've gotten out of reading the Bible. He was on the shore line and had water poured on him. From all enactments I have seen, the water was probaby higher on him, but not more than waist deep when kneeling.

is a baptism .. not someone poring water over your head.

Catholics "baptism" and all other christian religions baptism's are 2 very different things being done for 2 very different reasons.
That is an interpretation that you follow, it's not fact.

There are MANY churches that do NOT believe in immersion only for baptism (for starters Methodists, Episcopalians, Anglican churches, Orthodox churches, Lutherans, Presbyterians.... etc). Only evangelical protestants believe as you do. I have done long and hard searches on this, and not one literal instance does it say you HAVE TO BE IMMERSED in the Bible. Not once. It may be implied that they did immerse some people, but not state out right one way or the other. Only that you need to wash away your sins with baptism. That once you do you will be reborn. I have not found one single quote of the Bible that states it... and I've read that sucker many times.

Sorry but for you to claim that I am not baptized is blatant disrespect of a religion that yours is based off of.

I never said you weren't baptized, what I do remember saying was that "to my knowledge" catholics weren't baptised like many other religions were. Then I provided pictures of said baptism's.

oh, and ...

I went to bible school my entire school career sans college. So I've read the sucker many times myself. :)

Seriously, not being rude, but what was the point of that link?

The whole definition of baptism comes down to the translation. Per the Bible the direct translation of baptism per what we know of today means "to pour" or "to clense" There are many references to "baptizo" in the Bible that were about cleaning before eating.

I said what I did because it was heavily implied that true baptism is via immersion. As you said yourself in your own post that only immersion was baptism, not pouring. I only had water poured over my head, so by your definition of your post you are claiming mine wasn't true baptism.

You may have gone to Bible school, but that doesn't mean your teachings were correct.
Doesn't mean all my years of Catholic school and education are exactly right either. It's down to who translates something and how they interpret everything. And what you take literally.

After all evangelical protestants don't believe in transubstantiation and it is literally stated in the Bible.

Who is right? Who cares!!!! I went searching for my own faith after losing my mom. I learned a lot about other religions and I found out I am comfortable in high churches more than evangelical. It was an eye opener how different everyone is.

I just get pissed off when people come in and try to speak like they know about the Catholic faith when they have NO clue. I realize you in Alabama do not grow up around many Catholics (I just looked this up because of a discussion I had with a friend in Montgomery... depending on the area it is around 4-6% of all Christians are Catholic which is tiny compared to the rest of the nation... only areas in TN have less with 3%) and that you only hear some things from others... but sadly a lot of those people have no education in any Christian sects other than their own. You learn a lot when you read up and study the faiths of ALL of Christianity. As well as other religions that aren't Christian. It's amazing how many similarities there are between Catholics and Jews and sometimes how little there are between Catholics and S. Baptists for example.

Here you go:

I've got numerous catholic friends .. not once have I ever heard them say they were going to a baptism .. they all call it christening (they even have special clothing for the babies to wear called .. christening outfits) .. I've even been to a few myself to see the difference between what jesus worshiping religion does as opposed to other being worshiping religions do.

 @ people arguing over how to worship the same diety

anyone here think jesus would be happy about this? he'd pimp slap all of you for missing the point :p

You have some odd ass friends then. Never once have I heard someone call it a Christening UNLESS the child was already baptized previously.

It is a sacrament... one of our seven we have
Baptism
Communion
Reconciliation
Confirmation
Marriage
Holy Orders
Annointing of the Sick

argue all you want, but sorry, it is a BAPTISM... we baptize the kids in the *baptismal gowns* and usually have them wear a *baptismal bonnet* they get their *baptismal candles* and their certificate of *baptism*
If you want I can go find mine and scan it in for you to show you what it says.

why are you so hell bent on arguing this with me? You aren't Catholic, so how would you *really* know?

Personally I don't give a shit how people worship their own diety... or dieties or if they worship at all.

I give a shit when people are trying to say things about my particular religion when they obviously don't have a real clue how it is done. I prefer to live in facts of religion and not assumptions

I personally don't believe that if there is a God that he cares exactly how we go about it.

The giant spaghetti monster requires me to get christized in a tub of gravy. I get really mad when people call it, "Going to the buffet."
