Ontopic String's and Adi's gear & pedal thread

In general the more dense the wood the more boom-n-click the tone is, but only if the wood matters.

If it's good mahogany it's gonna be a fairly heavy bass. At least in shoulder strain if not tone.

The experts on TalkAss said wood matters on fretless, because the string actually contacts wood.
I have always been able to hear the differences, however subtle.

I'm like one of those rare people who can taste champagne through my anus. Even tho I've never tried that.

That actually makes some sense.

There is a noticeable difference in sustain with heavier bodies but that's more of a guitar thing. If a bass can ring for 4 beats it's job is done.

I'm thinking about quitting bass and picking up keyboard. Might record some instrumental stuff with midi only.

Why not play both?
You can surely put the bass down for a bit while learning another instrument but quitting? Why not play multiple instruments?

That's a lot of questions, OOD.
Sorry.
Hippie.
I'll keep my gear but unless I start up a band I don't plan on playing bass anymore. The keyboard has bass you know.
