Am I boring you, Immi? All of the stock tone controls are passive in that bass fyi. The only thing it had going for it was a treble boost on the switch that didn't sound nearly as good as removing a pot.

This thing was a very lightly used bedroom queen and the guy needed money. Got a good deal on a Hartke Kickback15 combo amp from him. Should've taken the bass too.

Next one I make from a body blank will be a Hips ASAT. A HASAT if you will.

I see NPS Fenders with my name on them with a tapered 130B and a tapered 110E. I'm curious to see if it's easier to intonate a tapered B. I'm usually maxed out on the saddle.

Do you clip your leaders? I always clip my leaders and only leave about 3 in of leader on the string.

Regardless of what people say about the post helping resiaton, the majority of vibration happens between the nut and the saddle.

I'm not sure if you're asking me a bass question right now or a bass question. Either way, I don't clip anything. I usually bend the excess string at the tuner until it breaks off.

Tapered was a 1990s trend. Mostly gone.

Higher than 130 a taper is a necessity for some bridges. My bridge is maxed out with a 132 chrome. Not enough room for a proper witness point.

Could file out a replacement saddle for the larger string. Same with a replacement nut.

I'd be inclined to keep the originals as is unless you're absolutely certain you're gonna stick with the fat strings.

I went through a fat string phase for a few years then came back to the more usual gauges.

They do but not at higher gauges. I think its a 125 or 130 they have. SIT actually used to come stock on G&L and the B was tapered.
