But NyQuil matters!
Nyquist's theorem says that you need two points to represent a frequency, and therefore you need twice the sampling rate to adequately describe the top frequency you intend to represent. That's why CDs run to 44.1KHz sampling rates, so that they can do the full gamut of human hearing range, which is roughly 20Hz to 20KHz, if you're young and have never been next to a power tool.

I understand some or none of that, depending on what I understand or don’t. Smirk

BUT

As was pointed out some momths ago, people don’t see in 4K either, but my eyes can see a definite difference between 1080 and 2160. And the tweeters I installed in some speakers in ‘85 reached 30KHz and I swear they were crisper than what they replaced.

I’m easily fooled.

And quit being so fucking sciency already ya showoff.

It was one of the things I had to learn, in order to convince clients to choose something reasonably convenient and modern (like a hard disk or ADAT) over the fucking pain in the ass that was the 2" 24 track reel-to-reel at the studio I used to work at.

We can see items smaller than the pixels on a 4k screen with 20/20 - pixels are mercifully blurred by the light streaming out of them and other factors. Human arm hair is about .0035" Baby's arm hair .001. Fine peach fuzz on a babies cheek. .0004" or less.

I have cds, vinyl and digital.
The only thing I replaced or got rid of over the years was cassettes.
Like most, I got what I wanted the most convenient way it was available at the time.

Back when I played in cover bands that actually did current material our practice tapes were made by calling radio stations, requesting songs, waiting, then hitting record on the boom box blank cassette when it came on.

I still hate DJ's that talk over intros.

I'd go to Sam's Jams(music store) and buy used copies of stuff on vinyl I needed for band tryouts or practices. Still have a few of them - no turntable :fly:

We grew up in BFE. Bought albums we liked for our own listening pleaure. Most efficient way to get single hits was the radio station and the blank tape.

Be trying to pick out some notes way in the background behind a huge booming voice telling me it's Ford truck month yet again. Like when is it not Ford truck month man shut up already.

When my first wife and I blew up, I left fiirst. Had to. Kept her lights on and bills paid in our duplex and one day she said they were out and I should collect my stuff.

About 200 records, out of their sleeves, all over the concrete basement floor. Seems she let my 3 year old son have a go. I gave them all to my buddy, who still has them to this day, 35 years later.

Fuuuuuuuuucccckkkkkkkkkk

People with exceptional vision see at about 550 megapixel. The fov is huge so you can't directly compare it to a 16 by 9 tv though.

That's about 16k or so in vertical resolution.

Where the human eye really needs high res and high fov is in virtual reality environments. Even at the best of the best today which is roughly 4k per eye, the pixels are clearly seen.
