What waffle irons aren't hot garbage these days?

Say it with me everyone: non-stick is bullshit.

check the wattage. I've got a cuisinart 4 waffle maker. it's 1200 watts, & just 'OK.'

slightly older version of this one. https://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-WAF-150-4-Slice-Belgian-Stainless/dp/B00MVWGUS6

When I was married we had the 2 waffle version & it would bang out perfect waffles quickly so I figured the 4 banger would be just as quick.

Turns out the 2 waffle version was 1000 watts.

I got spoiled with the speed version, & now have to wait a little longer. It stinks if you're trying to crank them out for a group of 4+ ppl. Everyone waits.

Also, I love the nonstick.

Why does nonstick suck? Is this a hipster thing, or actually a thing?
probably a hipster thing. Good nonstick has its place in a lot of cooking.

I expect derrhoggz thinks that good old fashioned cast iron browns the waffle better.

Good cast iron is non stick in itself, its just not teflon.

Any non cast iron I have now is all white ceramic coated. Purged al lthe teflon type stuff years ago and had a nice copper set I've had for years. Retired it due to it starting to now cook well.

I've got a Cuisinart waffle maker, non stick, that I've had for over a decade and still does the job. Provided you only use wood/plastic tools to get the waffles out, it works great.

Main trick is using a spray bottle of high temperature oil, and getting it hot to the point where the oil just starts to smoke before you put the batter in there.
