my PCP gave me a Rx for Wellbutrin to help me quit smoking, but I read the insert and had concerns about how it would affect my anxiety. talked to my GYN about it today when I was in for my pap schmear and she agreed and put me on Zoloft to try for the anxiety and then once that gets controlled, to try something like Chantix for the smoking if I still need it.

I also begrudgingly changed to a different OCP bc she was concerned about the migraines in conjunction with me being a smoker and also getting old. on the plus side, this one is actually covered by my insurance so it only cost me $5 for both Rxs today.

Chantix is the same med as Wellbutrin, but prescribed differently in dosage and timing, I think. And yes, please quit smoking thankyouverymuch :)

Google says they're different (vare-something vs bupropion?) which is why I didn't realize, but is it kinda like how valsartan and losartan are technically different but also kinda the same?

No, you're right--it's Zyban I was thinking of that is the same as Wellbutrin, not Chantix, sorry about that. Chantix is a different med.

The study I just read showed Chantix as more effective than Wellbutrin for quitting smoking.

I've had some friends that have had luck with it, but also some that had some of the weirdo dream side effects. I don't usually dream, or at least don't usually remember them, but when I do they're fucking awful, so idk. I'm hoping if I get the anxiety under control, I might not even need much help quitting bc a lot of it is a crutch for that, and the parts that aren't, the routiney/habit-y parts, a lot of it is intrusive thoughts like I get with the anxiety/ocd where my brain won't shut up until I do/say the thing my brain is trying to convince me I have to. it'll probably still be stressful, but like maybe if I'm not always at an 11 on the stress level to begin with, I might be able to handle that stress OK.

I'm working on it!

See the old me would have riffed on you dashing the hopes of more than a few dead poolers. I wont though because its U.C.
