Halp Android devices

Try this on for size for rational Apple dislike.
I loved my sister's cast-off MacBook.
Paid her like $300 and it was a tank- she claimed it was "on its way out" but I got a solid 5 years before the thing crapped out on me.
She gets all kinds of perks working for a university, so the machine was loaded to the gills with software.
Im not in a position to be able to afford a replacement. Even if I was, the software costs a fortune on top of the machine.
No big deal. The Microsoft world may be the McDonald's drive thru of computers, but it's cheap.
I just bought a Lenovo all in one touchscreen with a terabyte hard drive for $600.
Is Mac better?
Sure.
But it's out of my tax bracket.
The Lenovo is fine for a simple family PC.
So then why are you bitching?

Nobody's telling you that a windows machine is bad, just that it's not as good as a mac.

Similarly, nobody's saying that Android is bad, just that IOS is better.

Hell, I own an android phone, but recognize that.

Well, you should, because they're true.
I drive a Tacoma at the moment. It's super reliable, will crawl through snow or mud or sand, hauls and tows as much as I need it to, and I don't exactly feel the need to be gentle with it.

I'd like to own a tesla one day. Self driving, apocalypse mode, all the fixins.

They serve entirely different purposes and while the tesla might be better in most cases I certainly can't haul as much with it or drive it into the mountains like when I was in nevada.

I use my macbook for things my windows machines can't do very well and my windows machines for things my macbook (with virtualbox) can't do very well.

And cigarettes are also valuable.

Reality. It's based on reality.

Nexus devices are supported for 3 years, or 18 months past the date of last sale, and Google is the only provider that makes any sort of guarantee. HTC used to, but they kind of just let it go.

Again, you're arguing that the fragmentation in the android market is a feature, not a bug?
I'm arguing that iOS updates, possibly intentionally, run terribly on old hardware. So it doesn't fucking matter if updates are available.

IOS is pretty shit. I've spent the last year developing an app for both IOS and Android so I've had good exposure to both. The only good thing about an iPhone is the hardware.

Having to reach to the top to go back is a UX failure.

Yup, I don't like it either. And I hate it when people tell me to add a back button to an Android Screen (Activity) like an IOS device. Android has a (mostly a physical) back button for crying out loud.

I make a living by making Android apps. I work hand to hand with IOS developers. We talk and consult each other from time to time too. Both has their ups and downs from both user perspective and developer perspective.

It's pure choice. You have an Apple device? Good for you. You have an Android device? Good for you too!

You can have a Nokia 3310 * for all I care.

I don't get what the fuck you people are arguing about like 14 year old Justin Beiber (or whatever his name is) fans. It's just a fucking phone ffs.

*Best phone ever made, that will connect people after a nuclear winter.

Do you have anything more specific than "older devices".

We had 5's that went through 4 iOS versions that never had issues. They still run 10 and sit in dock's for Siri automation and work just fine.
No. I'm not an Apple person, so I've no idea. It's just information that's been relayed to me by people that are. It probably makes a difference that these are people actually still using them as a daily driver. Maybe it's BS, but I've heard it a lot.
