I know it's not the argument you're making, but it comes across kind of like someone is trying to validate caring superiority now compared to the past.
I see how you might think that. people care about lots of things, and have for as long as time. what people care about, especially as a collective, oftrn changes over time. people certainly care more about this particular topic than they have in the past, not least of which is because it's only in recent years that people of color have started to approach anything close to equity. in the not too distant past, society thought nothing of ignoring even survival concerns if the concerns were in regards to people of color. sundown towns still exist

I recognize that you can't judge the past by the morals of today, but that doesn't mean we can't strive to continue to be better.

the ass kissing 'caring' is because it's a voting block.

Changing a face on a dollar bill, which by the way is being used less and less and less, does absolutely nothing. In 100 yrs there can be disgust about her because 'more caring' in a completely different angle that gets a new block of votes.

In fact, in 10 years, when there's no currency, one group can be shamed into 'you knew paper currency was on it's way out the same way you made black history month the shortest month of the year. . . ' But that doesn't matter. Because today, today it's worth a few votes. in 10, or 100 years, a new monster will be created to regroup the votes.
