WTF The mildly embarassing fun fact thread

I got a perm when I was 12. Looking back on it I'm very embarrassed. I also let my roommate cut my hair in college. She did a terrible job and it was only a few days before I joined in with the basketball team for their annual photo to hang up in the gym gor forever (was a cheerleader and only 4 of us were even in the pic with them). I've wondered if I'm still there, hanging for all to see with my horrible haircut.

I do too.

I thought everyone did to be fair.

before a large mat of wookie-like proportions grew in at some point in my late 20s, i also solely had hair on my nipples.

I was a acting geek, and also a computer geek, through grade school and the first part of high school. Imagine being a computer geek in 1980. Shit was cutting edge.

Anyway, I was the lead in my 6th grade musical, and fell so hard in drama all I could muster was the Munchkin Town Father when we did the wizard of oz my Junior year.

I did a few local commercials after that, and gave up.

dawg, being a geek hasn't been embarrassing for a good decade now

Ok, so over the past few months, I've become a rather regular user here among the most of you who have been talking to each other for a long time. So as the new user, I want to get to know you guys a little better. And to do that, we share fun facts about ourselves that might be mildly embarrassing.

I'll start.

All throughout middle school and high school I was a choir dork. I excelled greatly at it and by my sophomore year I was the lead Baritone. One of my defining moments was when someone complimented me on my vocal control and called me Bjork for my ability to seamlessly transfer from my normal voice to my falsetto. My favorite choir show we ever did was when we sang the songs to Les Miserables. To this day, I still love to sing, although I've moved on from the high school musicals to whatever song I like that I hear through the speakers.

As of now, my vocal range is a little over 2 octaves. I do have to really belt out the vocals just to make that range though. On a good day I can hit the super low C note.

Ok, now you go. :)
Huh I thought guys had a better range than that (including falsetto). My range is still (but barely) 3 full octaves.

yes I was a choir and band geek here. I don't care who knows though, it serves me well and has brought in extra funds at time (being paid to sing at weddings & funerals and extra money I'd get for leading church choirs).

Nothing really to embarrassing here. I was embarrassed when I was 5 an walked outside with my shorts in my hand (instead of on) but generally speaking everything I've done makes me who I am today.

I refuse to be embarrassed by my band past. I was the lead trumpet player in the Jazz, Concert, and Mariachi bands, and I enjoyed every single time I donned the sombrero and jangly pants.

I still play - I've got a 1968 Getzen Severinsen Eterna and a mid 1970s Model 37 Bach Stradivarius.

Since when was it embarrassing to be able to sing? I've been singing since the 1st grade. Been playing drums since the 5th grade, piano since sophomore year in high school.

Mariachi band? Now that's cool! I just did marching, symphonic/concert, jazz and orchestra on F Horn. I have always borrowed horns and now should consider getting my own since I just returned the last one a few months ago but they're stupid expensive. Stupid me had a rich boyfriend in HS and they had offered to buy me one for graduation. I should have said yes... stupid stupid stupid.
