I would've performed the surgery myself with a good blade and a large bottle of cinnamon whiskey, both as a pain inhibitor and a disinfectant.

Thankfully I've only had a catheter once, and hope never to have that done again. It felt like it was jammed up too far into my bladder and scraping the sides of my bladder.
Getting the catheter taken out also burned like a mofo. *shudder*
