The happenings

I imagine lots of gay porns start this way, "laying cable" and whatnot.

Is this code for filming gay porn?

plz respond

Next Friday we're having dinner with a gay couple, I'm actually rather looking forward to it.

So you can get fabulous housewarming/dinner gifts by the couple?
Oh and  hello again hottie.

I built my dad a PC this weekend. It's acting weird though. When I turn it on it fires up for one second, then shuts off, then fires up for one second, then shuts off. Over and over. I can't figure it the fuck out. Swapped out the power supplies (both brand new 550w, different manufacturers) but same result. Tried clearing the CMOS, same result. Reseated and thermal pasted the proc. chip, same result. wtf.

Could be wonky pinouts for the power switch or reset switch on the mobo, or the switch itself.

Or the motherboard itself.

Here's what I did parts-wise in my new PC, btw....

I bought the RAM separately, it has 4GB of DDR3 1600, which I'll probably double later this year.

black edition for overclocking? Why no i7? Caviar blue? and why not a 5 series card? and why not nvidia?

Nah, just a co-worker turned friend and his "life partner" or whatever "you people" call yourselves.

 yes we are indeed another race and should be feared.

Still, gays come bearing gifts. I went to chim's dad's cousin's place for dinner. It was pizza. I brought over crust and homemade sauce lol. As well as an assortment of wines and beers.

Yes, but so far I haven't seen any need to do so. The system shreds Bad Company 2 at full res and max settings as it stands.

Why no i7?

I've always been in AMDs camp, and will continue to be so.

Caviar blue?

It was the highest rated Western Digital SATA drive on Newegg in my HD price range.

Same with AMD. My last 3 systems have all been Gigabyte board, AMD proc, ATI GPU.

The 4870/4890 is getting better marks in most games than the 5 series is at the same price point. There are also unexplained "gray screen of death" occurrences with the 5 series with the current drivers. When they get those sorted out I'll probably upgrade, right now there's no need to as DX11 is still a ways off in the distance for anything I'm interested in.

For games, at this point OCing the CPU is trivial. The GPU is the bottleneck, especially at high res. And since you don't have an aftermarket cooler, I didn't think you were that serious into OCing. If you were really worried about drivers, you would get an nvidia card.

BC2 is very proc intensive supposedly, but in most cases, yes, it's all the GPU. Honestly the "black edition" was a Phenom 2 proc (which is what I wanted) that happened to be on sale the day I was shopping, and the name sounded cool. I'm using the stock fan/cooler. No, I'm not serious about OCing, never really have been.

If I were a huge lamo jerkface stupidhead I'd go nvidia. There, stick THAT in your pipe and smoke it.

Right now, for the money, the Ati > nvidia for performance. The BE is nice because it is unlocked for easy modification.

The 5 series card in my price range was the 5770, which the 4870 outperforms on pretty much all tests, and DX11 wasn't a big enough selling point for me for the next level up.

I don't need to justify why I chose the 4870, especially since it's already in the PC and running at this point. I'm pleased with how it all came together.
