WTF Texas. GTFO.

Never an excuse. When you're moving between classes, you're old enough to have lockers. My high school was huge and 4 minutes was plenty of time to go to your locker (even if it was all the way across the school) exchange books, and go to your next class. At most you should have to carry two classes worth of books.

I couldn't get from our gym to the second floor class rooms at the back of the school in the 3 mins we were allotted, let alone get to my locker on a different floor on the other side of the building. Our school was built long, not circular.

I certainly didn't have enough time to use the restrooms during period changes AND go to my locker to get my books and other supplies unique for that class AND get to the class in 3 minutes.

And heaven forbid if you don't have extreme OCD on keeping your locker organized and you are just fucked if you are a new student or your schedule changes and you have to relearn it.

" I couldn't do my homework because I dropped my electronic textbook and it broke" will be the new "my dog ate it"

I would love to see teachers make PDFs with fill in areas for the homework assignments and have uploading capabilities to a cloud server run by the school. No lost homework. And if the student does not have wifi at home or internet or pay the 3G connection for the ereader, they could just wait until they get to school and "sync".

I like to picture Texas as a whole bunch of Yosemite Sams running around firing their pistols in the air. It makes more sense that way.

I like to picture Canadian parliament doing....whatever it is the fuck you people do up there. Ice fishing?

You go to the restroom during class. D'uh. Supplies unique for that class? What classes were you taking?

How hard is it to keep your locker organized without being in there for longer than 10 seconds? If you don't make a mess to begin with, you won't have a mess to worry about. They really changed your schedule in the middle of the semester?

While I can see positives for the kindle, I see it more as being a way for kids to surf the internet and look at porn all day during class instead of actually listen.

Also, the "it will read to you" is stupid and should be disabled. Kids should have to read their own textbooks.

Kindles have net access?

Don't get all panicky. Nothing has happened yet.

And this type of behavior happens with frequency all over the country. This is a byproduct of the partisan American back-and-forth, us vs. them political mentality, not Texas' backasswardness.

You go to the restroom during class.

Not when you are doing group activities like band. Or when the teachers tell you to wait until class is over. Or you are in the middle of taking a test so you are not allowed to move. And it's disruptive and rude.

Supplies unique for that class? What classes were you taking?

Yes. Most classes required their own notebooks as well as textbooks. If I was in a class like art or music or gym, there were other "props" required.

While this is true, you can still have residual papers and such from other classes as you switch around. And like you said, if you only are in your locker for 10 seconds, that doesn't give you much time to clean.

They really changed your schedule in the middle of the semester?

Yes. Also, some classes are only part of the year, some are the whole year, requiring a new schedule printed up half way through.

Yea, it says they will have access to the internet, just won't be able to download anything.

I didn't think it had full access to a browser, just amazon's marketplace which is online, or maybe online dictionaries or encyclopedias.
