Or Kodi with MythTV and whatever V4L device you happen to feel like buying (just avoid things with the conexant SAA7164 chipset, their linux driver is buggy as fuck).

yeah.... chicken wire doesnt have a small enough crosshatch to block anything of significance. I suppose if you have 1 inch stuff, you MIGHT block a 600mhz signal.

Yep, as high as possible. You'll probably need an amp too. Then just plug it into a coax outlet, or however you want to tie it in.
