while wandering in mexico recently I've started acquiring old cds I've long ago lost...
2 that have blown my mind again for the first time in maybe 10 years are:

santana - caravanserai
this cd was supposedly recorded live in studio while they were really fucked up on something...there is no finer santana cd...it mixes hard jazz with brazilian beats and has some of the most incredible ambience you will ever hear...try it, you'll like it...fyi, only about 3-4 songs on the cd have vocals

jane's addiction - nothing's shocking
I was in HS when this came out and it changed my life at the time...this cd was a huge nail in the coffin of 80's rock, totally throwing all conventions of the time right out the window...guitar work, drumming and songwriting are phenomenal and because such, it's whethered the test of time remarkably well considering it's now 18 years old...I'd say this is in the top 5-10 rock cds of all time

anyone else rediscovered some old favorites lately?

I'm downloading a film of the 1955 Rhythm and Blues Revue at the Apollo Theatre from archive.org. Does that count?

It's got Cab Calloway, Nat King Cole, Nipsey Russell, Count Basie.. this thing is gonna rock.
