What random drivel do you people believe? Gina in the thread about books has made it apparent that some of you are taking the claims of otherwise disreputable authors as concrete fact. Common sense says to examine the credentials of these authors and the content of their text in order to come to a conclusion on how much fact the thesis they put forward contain. An unbearable concept for most peope. It isn't particularly surprising that several works which are popularly entertaining and appeal to certain cultural ideas would gain acceptance with the correlating sections of the population with which those ideas appeal to.

The length of this document and the wish not to simply restate published material makes the case against Gavin Menzies in particular easy to dispense with. His books have been called into question in numerous newspaper articles12. The general consensus among them being that it doesn't stand up to any sort of academic criticism. A short review of journal articles also seems to discredit the theory34.

If you want to argue about that knock yourself out, but I dont actually look at the popular or bestselling list when I go to the bookstore. It makes me wonder what other blatant falsehoods some of you believe (aside from fly and 9/11). Quasi socialist political theories, any book by a politician, various history rewrites (chinese, african etc.), Michael Moore...

Popular reference. The Da Vinci Code has spawned an entire genre of psuedo-historical novels that people take as fact. Afro centric history, etc.

Why the hell am I nice and make regular threads so they dont get moderated to hell and the people who constantly bitch about moderation are the ones who cant do anything but genmay style sniping.

Fly: Lock this shit.

Oh, I thought you were talking about the China finding North America thing. I couldn't recall a thread about that.

The da Vinci Code isn't all bad. At least it made a lot more people aware that the Bible was voted upon, not divinely delivered from God's printing press.

You posted a random, stream of conciousness thread with little explanation of what you were getting at. I read your post 4 times before posting that. It reads as if you hadn't gotten enough sleep the night before. Your opening sentence makes it seem as if you are addressing something specific and recent, yet never revealing who or what is the offense at hand.

It's a generality leading up the the very last question. Sounds like it starts in the middle because it's copy pasted from a larger thing I typed out about the China thing, but in the 3-4 hours it takes to actually collect all the relavent information Gina went and made a thread about it. Editing again >.>

either i'm too tired to understand, or you're too high to make a new thread.
i reference all the time. i have to go look up things as fact, and in fact make sure that my new ideas are in fact, new. there is a lot of hand-waving in science though, and sometimes if you have a craptacular article it's an insult to be referenced in it.

what on earth are you talking about? what china thing? if this is from another thread you should at least tell me which one so i can catch up.

Are you high? o_O If you're talking about the notes they copy with the text. It's been doing it ever since I installed office 2007, pictures copy too when pasting between programs. It wasnt hurting anyone so I just formatted it.

They hardly count as references though, it's pretty much a list of 'plz go here for infos' since I didnt bother to cite or quote any of them. Get off your horse.

If that isnt what you meant you can ignore all that and just look one post up for clarification.

uh, yeah. not what i meant, like, in the slightest.
i don't have time to read about china these days.

Oh, and back on topic, part of the problem which I think you're getting at is the instant information age and 24/7 news. Take the Google crawl that killed United Airlines recently. It's become a race to be first, being right is for losers.

its probably closer to a single puff of bubble wrap. that hardly matters because we all know fg could do the panteen flip with his hair and hearts would melt. my only skills are being able to run like a crack head and scream like a girl.

don't forget WHILE holding a firecracker. that part is very important.
