WTF ITT lets discuss IT people

IT is all aspects of data management. I working in data networking. Typically the in house electricians run our copper wire but we do all the terminations and testing. Running cable isn't fun so I like our arrangement.

I don't run the wire, but I'm pretty much everything else.

You're in a different sector and may or may not be held to the same guidelines as well.

Sector? I'm in a different country. A different culture. Sure we like to tout ITIL here but we are pretty much improvised. They want to standardize us but right now they can't work out a standard.

Most places it makes the most sense to sub out the installation because an electrician or electrician's helper costs less than a network specialist per hour.

In our case, they have us on salary anyway. If our work load is low, then they will have us do it. If we are too busy with other things then they will contract out.

HR people tend to be one step above Social workers. who seem to be childless women bent on making everyone do things " for the kids" and not thinking about anything else.
