Lead adds a delicious savory flavor to most meats and vegetables. I switched to lead cookware years ago and haven't been happier.

Running water after soldering will wash the flux out, but washing the lead out of the exposed solder in copper pipes probably takes decades.

I use lead free solder for my repairs, but frig knows what the rest of the house is soldered with. House was built in the early 90s.

Lead was used in everything till the end of the 19th century. The Romans didn't really consume more than anyone else.
