Ending the BCS?

The important thing is to sort out the best team. Like you said, rankings are always skewed. if you take conf champs plus teams that are ranked high to fill it out you're bound to find the best team. If you want to sort out the exact rankings of all teams through play you need to play too many games.

No system, short of the playoffs as three game series' starting in August, or some kind of round robin thing starting in June, is going to put every team in its "proper" place.

Hence why it should only be the conference champions allowed. They proved against the rest of their conference they were better. A MAC team can't complain if they can't beat an SEC team when it comes to playoffs.

A conference champ only playoff would require 4 games Total to crown the champ. Rankings need to disappear completely

Then the problem is conferences breaking off and forming new ones. Now what happens?

ok, that's fair, conference champs only with a focus on crowning the single best team in the entire nation. if you were second place in your division to the overall winner you can go ahead and bitch that you should be number two all you want, no one cares who's number two.

can we all agree on that? who do we tell that we devised a better system?

one problem that comes to mind however is the differences between schedules what with all the out of conference games rigged to give easy wins against non BCS teams. That stuff has to end so there's no "difficulty of schedule" bs. Games should only be played within conference except for a conference wide agreed upon number of games against other BCS conference teams. Independents can join a conference or eat a dick.

Since my playoff system is based solely off of conference records, you could play Division III and it still won't matter if you can't bea tyour own conference. Couple that with the fact that if you beat everyone else in your conference, you still get the nod because everyone lost to you.
