Agreed. However if you ask most people they will say that its pleasing to the eye and not the mind. If you start navel gazing you get back to a philosophical approach and you can start talking about how the mind is what is being pleased.
But that doesn't help

Aesthetic is the visual look or design of something, it doesn't really have a positive or negative connotation in its own, needs a descriptor. Something could be aesthetically pleasing or aesthetically appalling..
Mental version of it probably be cerebral, just calling things "cerebrally pleasing" isn't commonly used language.
