Hospital bill came in from my appendectomy last month. That's 2.5 days in the hospital. My insurance is covering roughly $9,000 of that bill. Yet my deductible is roughly $6,500. Getting an itemized bill from the hospital tomorrow and then calling my insurance company to find out why they won't cover more.
That sucks. Hope the insurance will cover more. They should (the insurance company) send you an explanation of benefits which shows what specifically they covered and how much they were able to renegotiate the price.

Yeah, so far the insurance company has only sent me a bill for the doctor's appointment the day before I went to the ER and the Radiologists fee for looking at the CT scan.
i got a total of 41 different bills so far from when i had my hand surgery. And theyre still coming 4 months later.
Ranging from 8000 dollars, to 25 bucks.
Big fuckin scam, medical billing. If I was going to become a criminal I would impersonate medical collections.
You should see how much less it would be just asking how much it would be without insurance.
It's a ridiculous amount cheaper. If you tell them you are broke they always find a way to make the amount go down. Markup must be quite high
I thought I heard something like a 60% markup and they still get a profit after that.

But then again, the markup also deals with the bureaucracy of dealing with the insurance companies too.
