Was 00 the decade from Hell?

iirc, the magnetosphere prevents ionized particles from sun from blowing off our whole atmosphere.

if you turn an unopened can of soda over it doesn't magically pour out anyway. I don't see how the atmosphere would be any different

 Not at all, what is it with you guys today? Jesus Christ. I just have a vague recollection of Stephen Fry (clever bloke) saying on TV a while ago that the poles were going to change over and I thought he said it had done it before and was quite normal.

Well, technically it is quite normal over the life of the Earth, but STOP ARGUING WITH ME.

kekekekekeke

It's because 2012 is approaching and we all will die when the earths crust melts into the earth.

FACT.

When I did all my Mayan hikes and tours everyone I spoke with said the whole 2012 thing is not and has never been supported by the Mayan culture. They said everything in Mayan life is a circle that repeats so when the calendar ends it's just starts over again. The said it was all just made up my doomsday people.

What about people who live without any electricity, hospitals, food or schools every single day? Sorry man but I don't think I'd find it too traumatic to be without my TV for 3 days.

We were without water for a week while the treatment plants cleaned for days AFTER power was restored before the pumps could serve it to the people. Fuck TV.

Those cities that are functional without electricity are not large and are self-sustaining. The Northeastern part of North America, however, is not small and unpopulated, nor completely self-sufficient.

And think about the beer going bad because of lack of refrigeration!!

Oh yeah, that, too. Lack of power eliminates the most popular food preservation mechanism.

I get it, I get it, I just don't really think it should be classed as the same magnitude as famines etc.

is it called a "sunspot"? or something like that.. where we have some kind of solar occurence that is some kind of magnetic thingamajig where we lose all power..

that's going to happen too.. it's why i copped the kalishnikov (sp?) this wknd..
