Cool deal, the whole thing took about an hour and I can now load .isos from an attached WD 1 Terabyte drive. I yanked about 10+ games off of newsgroups and uploaded them, and will have 5 more waiting for me when I get home.

YAY INTERNET!

Here's a link to a RAR I made with all of the files I used/you should need. I also pulled the text of the guide I used from my web cache (the guy up and deleted it the after I used for some reason) and put it into a text file. Finally, there are links to the guide you will need to use to get the hard drive connected and working.

I remember when I downloaded a $50,000 chemistry encyclopedia set and then never even looked at it. Good times.

ha, that sounds like the guy that started me on newsgroups. He had EVERY movie ever on CD and then DVD, He just downloaded every thing you could. He had most of his stuff burned off and saved in a room it was crazy.

You need to add your wii friend code to your profile. I've been wanting to do this for a while but haven't because I'm a slacker.

Ask Kimie, she's got it, perhaps.

I've downloaded tons of shit that I've never used or touched, and will continue to do so.

Yeah I have a bit of a weird SHTF downloading compulsion. If a plague wipes out the country and 99% of us become zombies someone should know how to make clothing dyes and pigments or know the composition of lunar soil. It's important stuff.

My ex put linux onto our wii so we could d/l games and hook a hard drive into, run any linux app off it so we could have a big media centre etc. It was pretty neat.

Hmm, I didn't know this was possible until you mentioned it, interesting.

I'm kind of geeked out by the idea, but I doubt it could do much for me that the "easy" soft mod can't.

The install for us went fairly smoothly, nothing bricked. A couple of the games we've downloaded haven't worked so it just stops working or turns itself off, but we just turn it off and back on and the problem is solved (we'll and don't use that version of that game anymore).

I need an awesome truck racing game, or motorcycles, or dirt bikes or something similar. Ky loves trucks. We've had excite truck in the past and it's okay, but is there something better?

I'm too lazy to download, does this require soldering?

None. You don't fool with the hardware at all. You don't even open the case. All you do is put the needed files on an SD card, put the SD card in the Wii, and do the install.

Have you tried Excitebots where the vehicles look like robotic versions of animals?
