Money vs Family

depends on the family.

i've never left kansas because my entire family is here, or within a 3 hour drive of here. that said, i'm deeply rooted here and love the place.

doesnt sound like it's the place for you though. send miniflop to stay with the parents for 2 weeks every summer to make that connection, limit yourself to holidays and plan out specific weekends a year that way it becomes tradition and you never have an excuse to miss it each year to go visit them and your NE relatives. ie: 2nd weekend of april and 2nd weekend of september always take a 3-day weekend to go visit parents. visit the NE relatives 2 weekends out of the summer so you dont gotta deal with the winter. doing this eliminates all excuses and trying to schedule or decide when a good time is, becuase you already know when the time is.

this way you can live wherever you want but still feel connected

I've been offered a promotion to take over the West Coast opeations for my team. It would bump me up over 200k but I would have to relocate to to a different area. I'm not sure if I want to take to the increase in pay to relocate to an area that I still don't have family.

I wouldn't live in California for $200k a year, still not worth it.

I'm with you they couldn't pay me enough to live I'm Cali. The nice part is I'm a remote worker so my pay now is based off of San Fran not Tampa.
