Why my bank holiday was ruined

world's busiest airport is here in atlanta dude :p

per international traffic, departing and landing heathrow is the busiest - not in passanger numbers, but def in volume of traffic.

very impressive considering it has 2 runways...

a THESAURUS and a DICTIONARY!!!!

wow, you must read wikipedia too. oh, that's right. you tried to argue with me about drug administration once. carry on, flower.

I dont remember arguing about drug administraion, but I was probably correct about that, too.

I stated that global warming is not really being debated, what is in question is mans degree of responsibility for it. I personally believe that we have contributed to the overall increase in temps, but not in any supstantial way. I also believe there is nothing we can do to slow/stop it. All the arguing about it distracts from what we should be doing. The models show that the area of the US call the corn belt will become more like new mexico, and the temperate climate will move up to Canada. What the US should be doing is securing water rights with Canada.

quiet you, I'm busy looking at chemtrails

Wow lashing about today o_O half the comments dont even make sense

Edit: @ polo

I saw this on BBC News last night and was immediately pissed off. What right does any group have to attempt to interrupt the power supply of an unknown number of people? How can this be viewed as honourable in any way?

Infact, should have let them interrupted the power supply, more fantastic PR for them after the Heathrow debacle should stop shades of the public embracing this bullshit.

And about Global Warming - I don't believe it's anywhere near as massive as our government feels the need to tax us on it to stave off our Somalian-esque dystopian, hammer horror future that putting bottles in the bottle bank will stop.

I argue cause it's fun. If someone had put up an article about banning protesting I'd argue it. You cant talk about anything sensibly if everyone agrees. It's just back patting.

I have working in pharmacy for a long time. I have been working in oncology for several years, so I have forgotten a lot of the hospital stuff :( I am still drawing a blank on the IV anti-fungal medication that was new when I ... nevermind. I forgot what I was going to say

Something as basic to every human in the country as a continuous power supply should not be protested against. What next? Water supply?

Everyone would have been affected by this outage, not just the grand image of power consumers they had built up in their head. Local industry, schools, hospitals, homes.

But they don't care - they're on a moral crusade because of something they read in the Guardian.

Ignorance is not bliss, not when the alternative is drowning in a world you created out of greed and consumption when you could have just held up your hands, cut back a little and realised that your actions have consequences. That's why power supplies need interrupting, because one day if we don't pull our finger out the least of our worries will be that power supplies have run out. The worry will be that we're now living in a scene from Waterworld and Kevin Costner is damn fucking annoying.

Which has absolutely nothing to do with what I said... About dissent, just that there are more effective forms of dissent than protesting, which was my point in the beginning.

Actually everyone would die before ocean planet effect. I cant remember why but there was an article about it in nature >.>

I do more than my bit to help cut down on consumption. Bordering on the ridiculous, because I feel it's right. I'm not an idiot, I know driving a gas-guzzling car wouldn't be good for the environment, that's why I don't. I know that landfills and carbon capture schemes are ineffective and doomed to fail. What I don't do is try and interrupt someone elses life with my beliefs, especially in such a drastic way as to cut off their power for an unknown amount of time. It's not acceptable, we're all trying to get by through a shitty time in our nations economy without moral crusaders trying to cut off one of our basic tools of survival. Since the arrival of the crunch, environmentalism has taken a backseat in the policy of our country. I'm not the only one who's happy about this.

In specific I was addressing the point of protesting.

What type of Oncology? You and I should cast our handbags aside and be forum friends.

Well that's all well and good for such an enlightened being as yourself, but people who think putting their heating on 24/7 with their windows wide open is a good idea and they couldn't give a shit need a wake up call. It's a bit morally dubious as to whether 'hippies' should be allowed to enforce than kind of wake up call on people or not, but quite frankly if nobody else is willing to then why the hell not? Politicians are too obsessed with keeping favour to make any drastic changes to anything.

Average global temperatures ARE up. Weather patterns have changed exactly as predicted by global warming models. Its difficult to honestly deny the facts, but you are welcome to.

What if these models have been fudged? You wouldn't have a clue, correct?

I'm not saying I know anything with as much certainty as you have, but maybe you could open a few books and read up on how little of a problem it really is.

We have only been able to document weather changes for what, the past 100 years? You honestly think that 100 years worth of data is enough information to forecast changes in the climate on the scale of global warming?

Maybe there a few degrees difference since 1900, but that is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. The world is constantly changing and there is VERY little anyone can do about it.
