i'm sure i have. i try very hard to be respectful at all times, but i am not perfect. nor is anyone.
i don't think i'm being touchy feely. i just hate to see so many unnecessary remarks ruining good things.
this is probably true. the problem HERE is that there are no clear-cut ways to do so. maybe there needs to be a come-to-jesus meeting with mods about moderation and when measures should be taken to step in. maybe there should also be an order of steps that occur which end up in a final action (example: 1 would be warning because of personal insult. 2 would be another warning with example and a notification to admin. 3 would end up in a penalty...kicked out of thread, put in a pg playground, expelled for a day, etc.) i also think that mods and admins need to be professional and not personal when "discipling," for lack of better term. "this is the third attempt to control inappropriate personal attacks. the following will happen as a result."
i just think it's hard for everyone to be on solid ground, and that's where confusion and hurt feelings occur.
You are being touchy feely though. You know well you havent called anyone names. One doesnt try to be repectful, one is or isnt. You cant call someone names without knowing you are doing it.
This whole 'everyone is behaving badly let's hold hands and sing kum-bay-a' doesnt really further anything. Let's see some specific examples of what you dont approve of.
I remember that day that Thorn made a thread about how much of a bad mood she was in and how she attacked each of us.
funny, i recall about a year ago having a discussion about putting an end to those things you mentioned above,
Believe it or not... I respect your opinions.
You turn a nice phrase.
Ultimately, the shots need to be more subtle, "trippingly off the tongue," as it were.
Then mods, and others, can see people are having fun and less likely to shut down the thread.
I agree. If the people in charge have a problem with it, I guess that's what matters. I just love the back-and-forth a bit too much I guess. The biting, scathing remarks. I don't see what the big deal is. *shrug*
I don't.you honestly don't see any problems with the way things went down in the wal-mart thread?
Whoever doesnt argue well for their stake or makes simple errors of logic is bound to look a fool and the other side will look condescending. It cant be helped. I mean... Have you ever watched congressional debates? Someone in an argument is always going to 'appear' to be 'picked on'.it's my opinion, and the one i have stated, that the debates should not be condescending. if that's too kumbayaish for anyone, well, that's his or her own problem. i do not think that requesting a bit of respect should be beyond any lines.

that's great and all and a lot of us feel that way, but i fear the only way things are going to get better than they are now is if there's some actual legit moderation before things get out of hand.
I dont.
Nor do I.
You bring up a controversial subject and people are going to argue about it. With arguing comes bickering, with bickering comes insults, it goes on.
Not that you'd know. You aren't tall enough to see up onto the adult table.
