the people conducting the trains could have also had better training? whooooo knows
but there are MANY risk factors here
was this a skilled based error? rule based mistake? knowledge based mistake? sabotage?
who knows right now, but look at everyone just crossing their obese arms and blame the republicans.

this catastrophe was pure team work

Imagine the FAA stopped regulating planes. Would you only blame the pilots of Spirit Airlines, or would you say that deregulation was a giant factor?

That's what we're saying - essentially yes.

edit: They classified a bunch of toxic shit as non-toxic, so that it would be easier (*cough, cheaper*) to transport.

ok so yes the FAA would bear most of the responsibilities in your example
but the Republican haters here are SOLEY blaming the government for this
and that’s my point
it’s team work
everyone is to blame not just the govs

I mean, that's the problem. Train accidents happen all the time, which is why trains carrying vinyl chloride should have additional protections and regulations.

Also, hopefully it doesn't matter.

We had a gypsum stack collapse into Tampa Bay. It spilled millions of gallons of radioactive, toxic shit into the Bay. We did get some pretty big algae blooms, but for the most part it was not the disaster we were told it was going to be.

The railroads have colluded with the government for decades to the tune of $181B in stock buybacks over ten years. The workers are overworked and only assigned a skeleton crew on a train. This is just the cost of doing business and most of that cost will be paid by the public.

I can tell you that the engineers aren't overworked. Like airline crews, they time out.

(I have a friend who's a freight engineer.)
