Ontopic The new car-seching thread

yes sir and it’s MY POVERTY HONDA

My teenager's mom has been driving the same Honda for 15 years. She still loves it. It probably has the suspension of a pioneer wagon at this point.

Also, your avatar sucks. I keep thinking you're April. :giggle:

@Domon had a Honda too.

You're one step closer to a Grandma rug in your Parlor.
My daily is still a beater '09 Honda Fit, which is the real poverty car here.

In good news, after waiting a few months for the fuckin' things to finally come in thanks to COVID, the actual proper battery retaining hooks came in and the battery is no longer held in with zip ties and paint sticks.

i got my honda civic today!!

i can’t wait to throw the Narcs keys back at his stupid face.

So now that I think I have the transmission fixed...

I've heard that these days, you should always usethe manufacturers coolant. Is that true? Should I only use the Subaru Super Coolant for a flush/fill?

Amazon product ASIN B007NLOZAU
Just get a universal coolant that's listed for your application. IIRC, Subaru uses blue shit.

Don't mix different colors unless you're going to completely flush it first.

I'm looking on Advance Auto's site and don't see mention of color. What do?

edit: n/m had to search for 'blue'. Duh

Took the suspension back apart to address the terrible Tokico springs I bought back in the late '00s and thought they were the shit because the suspension was so stiff.

These feature separate ride height and preload adjustments, as well as damping stiffness settings:

Installation method is to take the threaded tubes off the coilovers, cut off the strut tubes so that there's just a little nub on the bottom, then weld it together.

Scribing a cutoff mark:

TIG'ing the tube on after cleaning up the knuckles with an angle grinder, a die grinder, and a dremel grinder:

Welded the inside too, which blistered the paint something fierce, so I painted the tubes again:

Then I set the ride height, cranked the damping settings all the way soft, and am enjoying life, though disassembling the suspension revealed that I need to service the front brakes.
