one of the groups I'm in was monitoring the situation as it unfolded & admins contacted authorities. her other two kids had the flu first, untreated because elderberry gummies and onions in your socks aren't real treatment, and then the 4 year old had a fucking heart attack. 105 fevers. now the group she was posting in, the same group that told her not to treat her kids, have kicked her out, accusing her of being a plant, and trying to distance the part they played in that kid's death

Elderberry does seem to have some meaningful scientific merit (peer reviewed studies) for prevention and low-grade treatment. But it aint gonna beat modern medicine any time.

Holy shit. I thought the "put stuff in the kids sock if he has a fever" was people joking about how dumb home remedies can be but that was real.
She does belong in jail. I hope her other kids Are someplace safe.
I don't have facebook or the like. Do they really let this kind of dangerous "advice" from conspiracy nuts go unchecked?

they are usually closed or secret groups, and modmins are quick to ban dissent/anyone who recommends actual care. there was another one not long ago where an expectant mom's baby was overdue, and she described symptoms that were VERY concerning, but the group was specifically for unassisted births and they ban anyone who recommends it, and they kept telling her she wwas fine, and her baby died choking on its own shit. it's so fucked up.

I don't even know what to say.
It's so dangerously dumb.
I hate it so much when kids suffer from parental stupidity. But to know there are actual groups pushing this advice like it was viable. These people need to be held accountable. Like publicly outed, dragged into court and prosecuted for reckless homicide.
