I dunno how i feel about this issue. In the ideal world, when you are convicted of a crime, you go to prison to remove you from society until it is felt you can be reintegrated safely. Now, US prisons aint that, theyre all about punishment.

But in the ideal case, being able to vote is a privilege of being part of society, much like freedom of movement, ability to be a consumer, etc.

Now once you've served your time? You absolute should have all your rights restored.

I don't think I agree with that. You should go to prison to be rehabilitated and reintegrated to society. That's how they should work. That's how things should happen. Part of that 100% should be being involved with politics and what is going on within your world. Recidivism happens, in part, because people get out of prison and have no clue how the world works afterwards.

However, as you say, that's not how our prisons work. Which is why we need reform and need to change how we look at them.

As is said above, I have no issues with someone that is a non-violent offender being able to vote.

Shitty actor. Shittiest Superman.

Trump can try all he wants to clean up those statements after two years by taking them out of context, but a lot of us heard or saw it live. He was out of control and lost his words. They got loose. He’s a piece of shit.

Why? He had absolutely nothing to do with it. Thanking him for tweeting? You are lame.

  • The President has secured $6 billion in new funding over two years to fight opioid abuse, and the Administration has awarded $1.5 billion for State Opioid Response grants.
    • This money funds vital programs throughout the Federal Government, as well as directly supporting State and local initiatives to address the opioid crisis in our communities.
    • The DOJ has awarded more than $400 million to support treatment, prevention, and domestic law enforcement efforts.
  • In total, President Trump and his Administration are committed to addressing the opioid epidemic and solving this public health crisis in partnership with State, local, and tribal leaders.
  • The President has provided local teams of experts to assist States and providers with training and education on how best to address the crisis in their State.
  • Thanks to the Trump Administration’s partnership with the Truth Initiative and Ad Council, 58 percent of young American and 1.4 billion viewers have seen ads highlighting the dangers of opioids.
    • In the President’s first year in office, 107,000 fewer adolescents started misusing prescription painkillers and 68 percent fewer Americans over the age of 26 began using heroin than in the previous year.
  • New efforts within the Trump Administration are resulting in a decline of opioid prescribing nationwide.
