GAY The Useless Travel Thread

They have a sort of Deadhead/Phish/Blues traveler thing going on where few radio stations have their music in rotation anymore (maybe the couple biggest hits on the secretary rock station) but people come out by the tens of thousands for their shows.
I've been the plenty of PJ shows in the past but I've never see it as crazy as this is.

This Pearl Jam concert tonight is hands down the craziest I have ever seen a city for a show. Once I got to the airport there is literally signs and billboards all over inside. It's all over the city. Every hotel is either sold out our over $1K a night. Hell they even made an announcement about it on my flight because half the plane was flying in for it. It's like a Superbowl level event it's crazy.

I have a buddy that I work with out there that took half of today off to go with his wife. And then followed up with another email, "oh, I'll probably be out Thursday morning too." Apparently the drummer's kids go to school with his kids, & he's (the drummer) a super down-to-earth guy.

I should try and see Pearl Jam again before they call it quits. Last time I saw them it was nightmare.

What happened?

I still haven't seen them personally but everyone I talked to who has described nothing but a solid good show. Like it didn't matter if you're a fan or not, it was well done, pro deal.

9 people were crushed to death and I watched as Eddie cried and scream at the crowd to back up to no avail as they lifted dead bodies out of the crowd.

I'll probably never get that image out of my head.

It's why I won't go to shows without seats.

The Killers wanted $150 for general admission bullshit at the Anthem in DC.

Fuck that. It's only half the band and the last two albums are whiny shit.

Is Matt Cameron still their drummer?

I won't pay more than 100 to see live music. And even near 100 it better a band I love who are known for sounding good live.

Within in the next 5 years you won't be going to see any live music then. Unless ticket prices are much lower in Australian than they are in the States.
