So what's a healthier alternative for treatment of diarrhea?
The diarrhea is trying to clear something out of your body, so plugging it up and trapping the pathogens in your intestines isn't a good thing IMO (lots of doctors recommend immodium, I think they are cray). If you're intolerant to lactose, then prevention is of course the thing. Stop with the dairy already.

If you have to take something, kaopectate or pepto bismol. And of course if it goes on too long or you're losing fluids too fast, you can take your stupid immodium.

And when you feel normal again, maybe try Goodbelly probiotic juice; it's delicious and will fix your gut in 16 days, so they say. If you sign up on their website, there're coupons. I love the stuff, especially the little "shots". Dairy-free BTW.
