i've known lots of professional students. they have the whole world figured out, even though they've never actually lived in it.
I work a lot with professional students on engineering things. Smart as fuck but practically useless.

"No, you can't test the signal that came in against 2^64 possible signals and pick the best one, let alone do it 96,000 times a second."
"But that's the textbook ideal decoder for this type of signal"
"It won't work."
"Can you even try?"
"That would require 36.2e18 of the DSP chip we're using, and require 181e15 watts of power."
"Uh, is that a lot of power?"

I have a feeling that political science students, economic students, etc... have the same issue, uh, "integrating" with the real world.

They learn, that's why they intern with smart guys like you.

I can't wait to start shaping young minds full of mush this summer when I get my first batch.

Yep. Some people are legitimately interested in the real world of electronics design, putting stuff that they learn in school to real world use, and learning the limitations of the real world. I love mentoring undergraduate co-op students.

It's when you start working with Ph.D's that things start going a bit awry. The "try all 2^64 possibilities" person is a Ph.D, they took my criticism as an insult and even pointed out that I'm just a B.Eng. That shit annoys me.

I've been in a peer situation with people like that, while my boss (at the time) didn't even have a GED.

It's funny to watch an almost-GED talk down to a PhD.

yay two old people don't understand the internet

I'm so glad that's the focus instead of the GOP refusing to investigate a compromise of our government by russian intelligence. But, yknow, lock her up. And benghazi.

It's a Do as I say not as I do kinda thing.
Look on the bright side, you dont have to listen to Hillz' cackle for the next four years.

Both the Senate and House intelligence committees have started investigations and both the House and Senate are taking steps so the President can't loosen the sanctions against Russia. It's not as if the whole government has turned a blind eye to this. Quite the opposite actually with bipartisan support.

It's also pretty scary that one of the old people who doesn't understand how the internet works is the leader of the opposition party. :waw:

Can you show me where they've started investigations? Because from what I'm reading Nunes instead wants to investigate why Flynn's calls with Russian intelligence agents were being recorded, not the content of the calls or any other communication taken during the campaign. Not surprising since he was involved in the transition and the transition team would be part of the investigation.

The house oversight committee chairman said the problem has solved itself and isn't interested. You have to admit that's some serious bullshit, right?

Looks like McConnell said a senate investigation is "highly likely" but hasn't actually started it yet.

And you're right, it's not as if the WHOLE government has turned a blind eye, just many Republicans and anyone else who was yelling about emails and benghazi.
