Ontopic It starts with parental influence

Puff, you are responsible for what these kids eat. Do not be lazy. Have easily accessible healthy snacks like fruit (ripe, washed, cut up), hummus, etc that they can grab. Keep the chips the healthy low salt and fat kind. Cook a healthy dinner, and give them oatmeal with fruit and nuts for breakfast. Pack healthy lunches for school.

They can have desserts and treats, of course, but a healthy base diet is really important. It's not difficult, and the kids can help and learn good skills and lessons (even math) in the kitchen. /rant

My kids felt bad at first cause I removed chips from a daily staple in their lunch box this year but now a few weeks in and they don't even ask and all three eat their fruit and veggie each day. I'm calling this a parenting win.

The child that has the bad diet is my niece and I am not responsible for her diet unless she is at my home.

The school lunches here are all organic and they have both fresh fruits and veggies and cooked ones. The kids usually eat the schools lunch but I make them breakfast and yeah sometimes it's a treat type breakfast but I feel like my kids eat a pretty decent diet but sometimes they talk me into buying something and I don't realize it was a bad idea until I get home and focus on putting stuff away.

she eats that shit and hates water cuz of YOU and your parenting.

fresh fruits and tons of veggies all the time.
he will turn down junk food anytime. cuz i taught him since DAY ONE

I read it at first as your kids don't like water and like potato puffs; I see now you were discussing your niece and her family.

Does the kid live near you and get along with your 2? You could invite her to your family stuff that involves activity, moving around, and maybe to dinner sometimes. I feel bad for her being overweight so young.

It also doesn't convert from edible fat to actual body fat very well. That's one of the biggest health myths in the entire world. Obviously eating tons of fat isn't healthy, but if they're eating regular foods, meats, dairy etc, don't get the low fat version, just buy regular.

It's healthier to have regular, not the low fat/fat free items Just don't eat a fat persons serving of it and it's fine. Sheesh. Gluttons these days.
