WTF Post interesting/funny/odd things about yourself - NOW FULL OF ICK

TSRH! Seriously it annoys the ever living daylights out of me when men get all squirmy about anything dealing with "women stuff" I knew a guy who got creeped out by a certain aisle in the grocery store that had tampons, pads, yeast infection treatments etc. It was dumb.

I used to love tampons, but like I said after a while they all bugged me. Everything you guys said about peeing, showering etc started to bother me more and more. Then got more painful to use and tried all sorts of brands, styles, sizes etc. In fact I have a bunch of left overs of so many different brands I'd be glad to give away

Seriously cups mean no issues with peeing, pooping, showering, having to hurt while readjusting etc. None of that at all happens. No dryness or pain or anything. Apparently far more common elsewhere in the world too - US is just behind on those things and label them as dumb crunchy things to use.

I tried the cup but I found it to be inconvenient, especially if you need to empty it in a public restroom. That part is messy and gross. I think it is better for people who do not have a very heavy flow. I've never had an issue with tampons while showering or peeing or pooping or hurting, but it really is different for everyone.

Holy fuck I thought I was a freak!!!!
Cornstarch is something I avoid touching cuz the squeaky sound factor!! It's like nails on a chalkboard for meeeee!!

 @Domon my soul mate (step aside @peanut!!!)

It seriously bothers me, like it makes me physically uncomfortable and I have to step away

its the texture of cornstarch, or to a slightly lesser degree, baby powder. Its got that "squeaky" thing going on that freaks me out a bit

I'm pretty weird about the sight AND texture of certain foods.
Like just looking at any jelly....or anything jellied. Or lumps in a sauce that should not have lumps, like gravy.
Then I sit there and think about what could possibly be IN those lumps? WHY are they lumpy?? :barf:

Jelly is horrific. The globules/blobs in your mouth = :barf:

I disagree because cups hold like 2-3x more than most tampons. I used to have tampons leak because they didn't hold right and they weren't even that full. Cups do take a bit of practice but they are definitely not messy for me at all. Like just as "messy" as a tampon. Not all cups are the same either.

The Diva Cup you linked to is crap IMO. I use Me Luna from Germany.

Neeeeevaaaaaaar in my life will I stick Tupperware in my vag to collect a pool of my blooooods!!!!

Yeah but lighter flow and no smell - that helped me get over it all ;) Then again tampons are collecting blood and they stink up the bathroom. I don't deal with that anymore. Less smell and mess is a good thing!

You keep your bloody tampons around the bathroom? Yuck. Flush that shit. It sounds like you didn't get the right kind of tampons for you. I'm not knocking your choice, I'm just saying it isn't right for me. I never tried the Diva cup actually, it's just the first one that came up on a google search. I think my problem is that I couldn't find one that was for heavy flow but for someone who has not had a vaginal birth. It's like you get the ginormous width and capacity, or the tiny width and capacity. There's no tiny width and ginormous capacity. My flow is seriously heavy. I have days where I literally need the bathroom once an hour. If I have to go out, using the cup is really inconvenient. I can just leave it in and let things back up, but then when I do take it out it's a terrible mess.

Uh no - cannot flush that shit here. It backs up systems totally with the number of tree roots we have. I cannot tell you how fucking NASTY it is to see old used tampons back up your system They should never be flushed here and have been told repeatedly NOT to! So yeah take out the trash a lot and I hate that crap.

I did find Me Luna because I have a shorter vaginal canal and am petite in general. The large cups were too big for me so Me Luna has different sizes (circumference) and lengths as well as how hard the material is. Very personalized fit for whatever size. So I totally hear you on the sizes from most. I prefer having an option of sizes and lengths and stems and all that. Plus the brand was 1/2 as much as Diva cups. Those Diva ones are evil. I am good with no mess with the cups. I can take them out, dump & clean and reinsert with no mess. I have used applicator free tampons in the past though so I'm really not icked by any of this. I used to have to do 3-4 tampons a day (not including night) and now I can do it once in the morning when I wake up and before I go to bed. 12 hours - never ever got near that with tampons. I never thought I'd love them so much, but I do - what can I say? It did take a little practice but now it's like 2nd nature to me. I will say again it did make my flow much shorter and even lighter. I'm not sure how either since absolutely nothing changed except using the cups.

I think they are great but get why others don't use them. I honestly just wish I had tried them like a decade ago with how different and good it all feels.

I think another problem people might have with a cup is that you're supposed to rinse them after you empty them, and if you're in a public restroom with stalls and then open sink area, other bathroom people might be present while you're rinsing your cup in the sink and not be terribly understanding about it.

The important thing is that there are options there, and because we're not afraid or shamed into silence, we can share our tips, tricks, and experiences.

It's BECAUSE we're not supposed to talk about such indelicate things that led to things like @helenabear not knowing about this great alternative that works for her sooner.

I agree - I grew up in a household where you didn't talk about this stuff. You weren't told what you can do and some of my friends never talked about it. It's kind of sad.

Though as an FYI you can wipe off the cup and not rinse if in public. Some women bring a little water bottle or something to clean off and the company I buy from sells different purse sized bottles too :fly:

Yeah, see, 3-4 tampons a day would be a dream come true to me. I'm not kidding when I say my flow is heavy. Last week I went through at least 60 tampons. I'd need the 41mm width with the 56mm length just to make it work which they don't make. If it made my flow lesser over time it might be great, but that wasn't my experience in the past (I tried it for 3 months). Putting it in wasn't a problem though. I often use the applicator free tampons as well. Less waste.

Should your pipes really be effected by tree roots? Sounds like it's not a good thing, but I can understand your point. Tampon backing up toilet bad.

I'd have to ask my dad about the tree roots and needing RotoRooter to come out. I have never flushed a tampon since they came out and it backed up into our basement. Once was enough ;) I never wanted to deal with it here. IIRC it happened a 2nd time after I moved out too but not 100% sure. It's just nasty *shudders at the thought of it here* Anyway I was lectured pretty harsh about how bad it is to flush them so I was scared straight into not doing it. Here was an article about tree roots and our area http://www.angieslist.com/articles/clogged-sewer-lines-check-tree-roots.htm

I feel bad you have such a heavy flow. I thought mine used to be bad but it got better after losing weight and then after having Dom. I used to be kind of like you and some days I'd even call off work. Those are the times when I wish I had better options because it sucks being stuck by a bathroom. Sorry it didn't help your flow either - it happened for me the first month and the 2nd month was even less. Not that I really needed it but it's nice to have one less day to deal with too.

I do have a bunch of Instead Cups (not reusable) if anyone ever did want to try those. I could not get them to work on me at all.

I did use applicator free ones like you for less waste. I also did them at first because they were easier to hide. I flushed them down but there was like no other real visual waste (clear wrappers are easy to hide). She died before we had the back up so she never found out. My dad was clueless and didn't really have any knowledge on stuff so he didn't seem to care. Horrible right? If I ever have a girl to take care of in this house, I am not going to make her suffer like I did with that crap.
