The total cost for this meal was

2 chicken breasts = 1.3 pounds at 1.60 a pound = $2.08
1.5 red bell peppers = 1 dollar
1/2 onion = .25 cents (probably less)
1 TBSP red curry = .05 cents
1 can coconut milk (highest possible fat content of any non-lard food out there) = 1 dollar
1/3 cup water = free
2 tbsp fish sauce = .05 cents (probably less)
1 2 inch piece ginger = .33 cents
1/4 cup basil leaves = free (basil grows like a weed)
1/2 cup mushroom = 1 dollar
1.5 cups dry rice = 33 cents

Total Meal Price: ~6 dollars.

Easily easily feeds 3 people. Itll feed me 4-5 times.

And freaking delicious, im so full right now

Didn't he say he spend $600 for 3 months feeding 3 people? At that price for three meals, it only lasts a little over a week

$6 is a lot for one meal. I'm trying to keep it sub $3.22 per day (1.07 per person)

Then split it in half. Or go easier on the shrooms or peppers. Or grow peppers in pots. At least you'll be getting some other vitamins and nutrients.
...Do you like, do anything o_O 3/4 cup of cooked rice and 1/2 a chicken breast is nothing.

I actually make craploads of chicken fried rice though. Without the extras, just chicken, red pepper, and rice in olive oil.

Costco secret:

Buy gift cards, use them when shopping there. You'll get the discounted price without being a member. I've done this many times, last week in fact.

How do they let you buy things without a membership? You have to show your card when you get in and get it swiped at the register.

Are you assholes still debating how much it costs to eat? I season all of my food with saffron. About 150 lbs. per year of the stuff. How much does it cost ME to eat?
