there is the opinion that Obama is going to win (in part) because white people feel guilty for what has happened to blacks in this country and are thus "giving back" by voting Obama in.


i am curious what this predominantly white board thinks.
 
I think he'll win because people are tired of the Republicans.


But then again, I don't live there.
 
He'll win because he has majority of the racial vote and a good chuck of the Caucasian vote. McCain just isn't that likable to make up for being a republican after Bush.
 
Actually the democrats forced it because they picked hillary and obama. You only get two choices in America, no matter how out of touch with reality both of those choices are.

The democrats are the default party of anyone who isnt republican whe it comes to major elections. Real true democrats, are quite scary, viz www.democraticunderground.com .

McCain could have won. In 2000 he had the entire not-a-right-wing-crazy or maoist vote in his pocket. He made the choice to toe the current republican party line and pander to protestant extremists and on other issues him and obama were so incredibly centrist that there was no difference.

Yeah, I get the feeling the McPalin campaign went a little schitzo somewhere along the line and it's been downhill since.

Yeah, chinese communism. It has specific cannotations, but it's also used for US socialists because they used to identify with Mao instead of the Russians.
 
The fact that he's black is about the only reason why I would like to see him win. I just want to get past all this racial crap and hope this will go a long way towards that goal.

See, this is racist. You want him to win because he's black is the same as wanting him to lose because he is black. It's a decision based upon race, pure and simple no matter how you rationalize it.

What I want to know is how the white supremecists and hard core organized haters are going to respond to a win.. or how black people would respond to a loss. It's scary that the race thing is being glossed over because everyone is too afraid to mention it... but it is relevant.
