What could I be doing wrong?

For some reason that I can't figure out, my PC consistantly loads battlefield 2 maps at least 15 seconds slower than Aprils PC. Not only is the load slower, but so is the 'verifying client data' part.

I gots an AMD 3800+ X2
2 GB
NVIDIA 7800GTX
300GB SATA 3G drive
nForce 4 chipset

She gots an AMD 3300+
1 GB
ATI 9700
nForce 3 chipset (I think)

I'm using the latest drivers. Enabled nVidias IDE drivers. Ensured that the drive is running @ 3G speeds. Updated BIOS. And probably some other stuff that I cant think of. Something is wrong with my machine.
 
ctrl+alt+del and compare what processes you have running with hers. If you just built hers and it's a fresh install, there's probably less crap taking up resources on her machine. Might just have to disable some programs prior to playing.

I'm guessing it's a fresh install of XP on a new drive so that shouldn't be necessary

Ya, I did defrag it too. Sorry. And I'd recommend O&O.

no sir. I really think it has to me some misconfiguration on my machine, as her old machine (Barton 2500) also loaded faster. I even made sure that the video settings are exactly the same too.

ATI > Nvidia and well considering she pretty much has a brand new machine (due to rebuild) she probably has less crap slowing things down than yours
 
I'm curious to see your head to head 3dmark scores to see if it really is an ati vs nvidia thing

edit: also, are you both pci-e or is she agp vs you pci-e?

april probably beat him there so that shouldn't be affecting him any more than her
