If you're going with a regular car the best one I found is a Fusion. It's not sport car. It's great for the family and good on gas.

The new one for 2013 is freaking amazing. I like my 2010 Fusion.

The new one is supposed to do over 100MPG. Granted it's electric but the standard one is great. Plus I like the sync system.

might be a bit too faggy for you drool but the e320 mercedes bluetec of which there are a few of in here get over 30 on the highway while making 400lbft of tq. obviously that is astounding.

The E320 isn't particularly quick off the line, but with 400 lb-ft of torque, its passing power is comparable to a Saturn V rocket. Jason commented, "Mercedes has this powertrain perfectly dialed in. I drove 80 MPH the whole way and averaged 30 MPG."

Not until around 60k miles. And the engine won't fall apart. Some of the electrics might, however, you are right.

when he said 30mpg, he meant the real mpg measurement, not your fantasy imperial measurement. That same A3 TDI that you posted doesn't get much more than the bluetec.
