great spot on 60 minutes sunday night about the wildfires. that we'd "caused" these megafires out there by putting all the other ones out the last 100 years and instead of a bunch of that land being already burnt off there's a shit ton of brush that fuels the fire.

something like, in the next 20 years, 1/4 of the forested areas will be burnt. and they can't regenerate because the heat of these megafires is burning soil all the way down to rock===no plant treees in rock.
 
i'm simply tired of seeing smucks on the news holding a cellphone up and talking to people inthe area. I honestly don't care is some random lady/dude has a friend/relative in the area. we all have someone we knowe that lives someplace that there might be a disaster in.

I would have thought more people, despite their religious affiliation, would have answered using the universally known insurance term. I think if I were asked I'd answer "act of god" (yeah, I wouldn't capitalize it).

I wouldn't worry about that. They thought it would take forever for the land by Mt. St. Helen's to regenerate, and were surprised with how quickly it did. If it can regenerate after being inundated with burning rock, I'm sure some land subjected to burning wood is gonna be just fine.
 
fire is extremely natural and forests are both accustomed and geared for dealing with it...some plants REQUIRE fire temps to release their seeds even

sucks people are losing their homes but it's no different than living on coastal FL or TX in terms of known risks with nature

except californians are dumb because they have to deal with wildfires, and earthquakes, AND hollywood types. that's just too many disasters for my taste.
 
Kaleepornia is feeling the wrath of the muslim world. It's that simple really. The terrorist are firebombing the area with all of the liquid explosives they've manufactured over the past year but weren't able to use on the airplanes because of the liquid ban.
 
interesting note...they have something like 2300 inmates they made into impromptu firemen to help make up the 6k firemen total that are fighting the blazes
 
This whole thing made me consider how fast one might mobilize a moving truck.

There are laws against enslaving prisoners. They were started after blacks were picked up during WWII for "not working", many on their days off, then sentenced, and sent to work for the state for free.
