eaten by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mae.
Do you have a better suggestion?
Yes, its called getting the federal government completely out of the mortgage business.
And who put them in the mortgage business?
The progressives in the federal government. People like Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, John McCain, Richard Nixon, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, ex cetra.
Richard Nixon and John McCain are progressives?
Just like Teddy Roosevelt.
And Ronald Reagan
Down with progress!!! What did it ever do for us anyway?
Aside from the aquaducts.
Name one thing that Reagen did followed the Progressive agenda.
Accord to you, Amstel, and Kevlar:
Raised taxes, increased government spending, and left the POTUS with the largest increase in national debt.
He also started regulating standards on how cars were built (regarding emissions standards), he added to gay rights, he granted amnesty to illegal immigrants,
don't forget he also supported reducing our nuclear arsenal
You don't understand things very well if you think that's an option, which explains a lot. Fannie and Freddie were propped up because that's a MUCH easier pill to swallow than letting the mortgage industry collapse. Governments don't do hard things, because they aren't popular. Ronald Regan, or any other president, would have done the same thing. They don't even have a choice.
What would the unemployment rate be if the government didn't act with the stimulus package?
the stimulus package is keeping the government employed, that's about it.
I'm pretty sure a lot of businesses would have fell.
