Kimie and I have plans to go solar for our home in the next 5 years (at least we hope to).
The sun is very, very hot. You could never live there.

all I did was click the "reply to thread" button. I have read nothing other than loling at gay man/mounting 'help' etc. . . .
/2nd grade humor.

Clearly you under-estimate my ability to overcome anything through sheer force of will, and awesome.
I got the impression that solar power doesn't pay for itself.
Even as a supplement, the amount of monthly savings from installing solar panels does not exceed the cost of the unit over the unit's economic life.
The only reason I heard this is because it was debated in Hawaii not that long ago. Legislation was passed mandating that all new homes in the state must have solar water heaters. Apparently they aren't economical -- you install them to feel better about using less electricity.
May be in the case of the carputer recharging, it may make more sense, I dunno.
Charge the battery?
that single panel is $350! How many batteries is that? how much gas is that?
how much electricity could that 'carputer' possibly use?
sheesh. I think you're better off with a portable nuclear reactor.
Not to mention, you'll never hit 88 mph with a big battery pack on your roof.
I tried mounting a solar panel, but it burned my thighs.
