well my computer is out dated and dying. i plan on building a fresh one for about 500-600 dollars. I am keeping my old psu, hdds, monitor, mouse, keyboard, and case(though i might want a new one). this is what i am currently looking at, let me know if i can find a better deal or performance for my price range.

your URL's are truncated with ellipses in them (I know the visual link should but your background link is truncated as well). post full links and we'll have a look.

Also, what PSU do you currently have?

that might matter since you are upgrading your core components. A weak psu might overheat and go bad or risk damage to other components.

if you can afford it I'd look a little higher on the CPU, maybe this one.

It's a lot more bang for the buck.

i was looking at that one, but i wasn't sure if i wanted to spend another 100 bucks. i would be happy if i could keep my current video card for a little longer, but i don't often see mobos with AGP anymore. i would also need IDE express since i eventually plan to upgrade

Upgrade the CPU, that 100 bucks will get you an extra year or 2 of usability easy.

Instead of that video card you picked what about this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150202

after rebate it's only $140 and it's both 256 MB and 256 bit where the one you picked was only 128 bit.

This way you get the better CPU, a better (imo) video card, and the whole thing only went $40 higher than your original amount (after rebate). And you are upgraded to PCI Express x16

a DX9 card? :wtf:

if you're going to upgrade may as well get a DX10 card.

edit: and if i remember correctly, even though the 8600gts only has 128bit bus, its still more powerful than the 7900gs
edit2: nevermind, they are just about equal.

i'm trying to pinch pennies here. Turn a few more tricks and earn another 100 bucks and this will be a lot easier.
