Hand painting??? (pics, 56k might take a while)

A friend of mine sent these to me. I have never seen anything like this before. It has to be one of two things: Either someone is very, very good at this, or someone has too much time on his or her hands, pun intended.

EDIT: I also have some pics of body painting, which I've posted *elsewhere* but are absolutely not work safe.
