Valdimir Putin, the REAL most interesting man in the world.

I'm still not sure what I think about his politics, but I AM sure that he is a gazillion times more interesting than any of the leaders we have in the US.
Not sure what you think? You know journalists are murdered by the KGB etc. in Russia and live in fear of their lives right?

we've never had a journalist executed by putin. I think you're making this up hairy young lady!
I know the story she's talking about. The journalist injected with a radioactive isotope that caused a very drawn out and painful death that had some serious KGB overtones too it. it happened in the UK. It's the only occasion of it I have heard of, and the entire 'living in fear' part, I think, may be some extrapolation on her part.
He seemed to do something right since a shit load of his countrymen love him. He's going to run for President again, and I'd bet on him winning.
Some people loves Stalin too. Russia is corrupt as fuck.

Journalists and media workers all over the world have been targeted every day all over the world for their work to cover important happenings and to report it to the public. They have been experiencing torture, beating and murder and most of the crimes go unpunished.
A joint report says that since 1993, more than 300 journalists have been killed in Russia with only 52 of the murders with confirmed motive.
The dangers to journalists in Russia have been well known since the early 1990s but concern at the number of unsolved killings soared after Anna Politkovskaya's murder in Moscow on 7 October 2006.
In its September 2009 report the Committee to Protect Journalists repeated its conclusion that Russia was one of the deadliest countries in the world for journalists and added that it remains among the worst at solving their murders. The Anatomy of Injustice[6] (Russian version: Анатомия безнаказанности[7]) offers an account of the deaths of 17 journalists in Russia since 2000. They died or were killed, the CPJ is convinced, because of the work they were doing and in only one case, it notes, has there been a partially successful prosecution.
