Let me think about this. We may be able to come up with something.

you could have a dynamic nick check. so say it wouldn't allow anything that was already taken excluding spaces or something.

you could also make it that the person could still log in with their old name or something. kinda like it creates a dupe, temp acct that has a referer. A timelimit (7 days) would also limit the abuse.

I think the current price is fine though.
