In this thread we post our all time favorite drinking songs. They dont have to be about drinking but if not tell us why it is your drinking song. Post away!!!

I have to start with a classic...

Spirit of the West - Home for a Rest

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPJD3qcIL7s

You'll have to excuse me, I'm not at my best
I've been gone for a month, I've been drunk since I left
These so-called vacations will soon be my death
I'm so sick from the drink I need home for a rest.

We arrived in December and London was cold
We stayed in the bars along Charing Cross Road
We never saw nothin' but brass taps and oak
Kept a shine on the bar with the sleeves of our coats

CHORUS:
You'll have to excuse me, I'm not at my best
I've been gone for a week
I've been drunk since I left
And these so-called vacations
Will soon be my death
I'm so sick from the drink
I need home for a rest
Take me home....

Euston Station the train journey North
In the buffet car we lurched back and forth
Past old crooked dykes through Yorkshire's green fields
We were flung into dance as the train jigged and reeled

- CHORUS -

By the light of the moon, she'd drift through the streets
A rare old perfume, so seductive and sweet
She'd tease us and flirt, as the pubs all closed down
Then walk us on home and deny us a round

You'll have to excuse me, I'm not at my best
I've been gone for a month
I've been drunk since I left
And these so-called vacations
Will soon be my death
I'm so sick from the drink
I need home for a rest
Take me home....

The gas heater's empty, it's damp as a tomb
The spirits we drank now ghosts in the room
I'm knackered again, come on sleep take me soon
And don't lift up my head 'till the the twelve bells at noon

You'll have to excuse me, I'm not at my best
I've been gone for a month
I've been drunk since I left
And these so-called vacations
Will soon be my death
I'm so sick from the drink
I need home for a rest
Take me home

I've had the most fun drinking when listening to one minute of 100 different song followed by The Tragically Hip - Ahead by a Century.

I'll also tell you that a song to NOT drink to is some screechy bitch singing a terrible cover of Ruby Tuesday. Whoever played that on the jukebox last night should be shot.

Oh how could I forget...

Reel Big Fish - Beer

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCgX4ixCRcQ

she
called me
late last
night, to say she loved me so
it didn't matter anymore, but
i say she never cared
and that she never will, i'd
do it all again
i guess i'll have to wait until then

if i get drunk well, i'll pass out
on the floor now baby
you won't bother me no more
if you're drinkin' well, you know
that you're my friend and i say
i think i'll have myself a beer.

she called me late last night, to say
she loved me,
so..? but i guess he changed her mind
well i should have known it wouldn't be
all right, but i can't live without her
so i won't even try...

maybe some day, i'll think of what to say.
maybe next time i'll remember what to do,
she looks like heaven, maybe this is hell,
said she'd do it all again, she'd
promise not to tell!

if i get drunk well,
i'll pass out
on the floor now baby
you won't bother me no
more
(and she said)
it's ok boy cause
you know
we'll be good
friends and i say, i think
i'll have myself a beer.

classic Elton John or Journey always for some great drunken singalongs

Personally I usually go with Righteous Brothers - You've Lost That Lovin Feelin :p

A couple weeks back when my brother was in town we took a couple ladies out and all 4 of us were singing Journey/Righteous Bros at the top of our lungs. The bar was packed and we were the only 4 singing, louder than the jukebox, freakin hilarious.
