Oh and it's the half a cold cup of leftover coffee which stimulated that thought. Every system of this house is electric. Can't make coffee, can't cook stove top. Whole neighborhood is out. A.transformer probably got struck by lightning.

Have you guys had to put threads into a 3D printed part? Maybe a steel insert or something?
I've found thermal-set inserts that you basically push into the part with a soldering iron, but I'm wondering if there's any other solutions.

Heating up a nut or insert and pushing into the part is probably your best bet
You can thread the part with a tap if the shell is thick enough, but it wont be a strong thread at all

Or if you're making a one-off thing, make a cavity that takes a nut. Pause the print when it's time, drop the thing in, continue.
