Have people started blaming guns yet?
Have people started blaming guns yet?
During a Fox News segment today, anchor Shep Smith tossed to a live shot of a vigil for critically wounded Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, and several seconds into it, as one mourner said “…and I say to you, Sarah Palin…” then cut to a commercial. Sarah Palin, a Fox News contributor, has come under fire in the early aftermath of this mass shooting, as some are connecting it with her “crosshairs” ad from earlier this year.
With so little known at this time, cooler heads are resisting making political hay out of this shooting, but the coincidence of Giffords’ shooting, her placement on Palin’s “crosshairs” map, and Giffords’ own comments about that map have combined to make Palin an early scapegoat, particularly on the left.
its the same linear thinking that got us into the ME. OMG A FEW CRAZIES TOOK DOWN THE WTC, WE MUST BLAME MUSLIMS IN GENERAL AND TAKE OVER A FEW OF THEIR COUNTRIES!!!!!
keep in mind, for all you cunts battering down the crosshair gambit, you're also giving creedance to the argument that playing first person shooters makes people violent.
I can see similarities at first, but the more I think about it, the less the two are alike.
assuming that a crosshair activates some sleeper cell to go out and kill someone?
i don't know - it's not a particularly big leap to think that shooting americans in CoD virtually can be equated to the same thing.
It's a pretty shit excuse, and almost Republican in it's try hard connectivity.
edited: to capital 'R' so as not to confuse legitimate belief with local football team, evangelical fervor.
I'd say the vitriol coming from someone revered by a large audience has much more affect than a faceless form of media.
right now it's just extremely coincidental until more comes out
