lol what

anyway, porn is dope though I concede there are some things I'd want to say about it re: ethics and/or using it to gauge what is "normal" regarding sex acts and/or bodies

most the arguments (although amplified due to the bodily autonomy element of it) are basically just arguments against shitty corporations and bosses. In a normal job, your boss can be a dick and force you to do things you dont wanna do if you wanna keep your job, same thing applies in porn, just those things seem more severe due to the nature of the profession.

yeah, and being stuck in contracts that mean other people profit massively off of your labor while you see very little or nothing (but the exposure!)

I always see questions come up in FB groups I'm in like "is it cheating if he pays for someone's premium snaps" and like. if it's not someone with whom there is a back and forth communication, like someone he personally knows, then not only do I not think it's cheating, I think it's a more ethical way to get porn bc the money is going directly to the SWer

is there some context for the armed revolution part re: porn at the end?
There was a post about POrnhub being shut down. Boo hoo. I was just throwing out the idea that some people(self included) think the watching of porn is more than a little fucked up and mentally lazy. "Imagine a world where people live so devoid of happiness that it becomes a popular pastime to compensate by simply watching recordings of people smiling. " - opening sentence of the article.

oh yeah, any "art" which i guess include porn has those pitfalls. Music artists that see pennies per play when their companies see dollars, etc.

yeah but that feels very reduction ad absurdum. you could argue against television or movies (because you should be out there living adventures instead of watching other people do it) or listening to music (wow imagine being so plebeian that you can't just conjure up pleasing sounds in your own ear or play every instrument you want to hear yourself) or reading a book etc

Being an aeronaut/balloonist may not be a practical attainment. Getting laid generally just requires some reasonable cooperation and consideration. And yes, studies show people are doing increasingly fewer hobbies, adventures or self-improvement activities with each passing year. Reduction ad absurdum - nah, just just how I and some others see it. You do you - that was not a porn reference. ;)

I would say there's probably a lot of reasons people are doing less with their free time thay relate more to the lack of free time and/or money than just that they're satisfied watching it on the screen (though I recognize that plays a part).

if you're going to say porn is useless specifically bc you can just go have a sex, though, you might as well take masturbation off the table, too.

sometimes I don't want to get laid, I just want to get off. sometimes I'm tired, or don't have time, or my partner is tired, or on tour for three months, or whatever. I CAN do it without porn, but it can be enjoyable with it.

as for the ease of getting laid: some people have physical disabilities, or or cognitive or social impairments that make connecting with people difficult. maybe they're too self-conscious about their genitals. maybe they are afraid of STIs. maybe they have an STI that makes finding sexual partners difficult. maybe they're hella gay living in in a red state with their conservative parents & getting out there risks their life or job or home.

I get all of that. I disagree it takes masturbation off the table. My only real thought was that porn is highly over-indulged in and is often a lazy way out of actual commitment, particularly when it comes to healthy people who are in a relationship. Lot of wasted time and money. i think a lot of guys would rather watch porn than have to co-operate with a woman. And ditto for many women So silly - better to keep face and watch someone else have some real grind going on? I think a lot of it goes back to misogynistic desires(both sexes) to have it all. While really not having it all because nobody wants to be bottom bitch forever. And at this point, they don't have to be. And thus better cooperation and terms of engagement are needed
